London Fashion Week – the review

Last week saw London transform to a catwalk with fashionistas from all over the globe jetting in to view the latest trends. Despite stormy rain and a first day of heavy rain we set out to meet up with some of our favourite bloggers, try to catch a glimpse of Anna Wintour and Kate Moss and to attend some glorious shows.

The Saturday gave us a bit of sunshine.

Friday started off with meeting the lovely Anna Nooshin from NSMBL to show the Bastyan SS14 Collection and a few sneak peeks of AW14 followed by a delicious lunch.

We sent out one of our designers Claire and PR girl Cecilia to attend some top shows including John Rocha, Central Saint Martins, Sibling, Nicole Fahri, Temperley, Holly Fulton, David Koma and Topshop Unique and report back to us. Here’s their thoughts on some of the collections they attended.

John Rocha

John Rocha showed a beautifully crafted collection. Full of frills, ruffles, intricate lace and layered silk chiffon the collection may not be the most wearable of them all at LFW but ooh so beautiful to look at.

Temperley London

Temperley’s collection was covered in decorative prints and had a bohemian feel with long flouncy skirts.  Stepping away slightly from their default occasionwear (even if there were a few gorgeous gowns sure to be seen on a red carpet soon), the new collection drew focus closer to daywear with quilted cropped jackets and blanket scarves wrapped over A-line coats.

Nicole Fahri

The label was saved from going in to administration last year and although there might have not been a shiny catwalk show this year there was a rather nice presentation full of oversized silhouettes and beautiful Toscana shearling.

David Koma

David Koma showed a structured collection with a strong silhouette. With focus on the waist and neck, the collection was full of skater skirts and hand stitched leather panelling.

Topshop Unique

At Topshop Unique we got to spy on Anna W chatting to Philip Green and Kate Moss as models strutted down the catwalk in affordable fashion. Topshop showed us a 70’s and English heritage vibe collection with a muted autumn colour palette of soft greys, cobalt blue ad inserts of yellow and orange tones.

In between shows we caught up with some of our favourite bloggers who were in town.

We brunched and had cocktails with our favourite model off-duty Natalie Suarez of Natalie off Duty and managed to catch up with the gorgeous Cara from A Fashion Love Affair just after the David Koma show.
